Non-Government Disability Wages Claim: It’s on!

On 30th June 2009 the existing Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA) for most Non-Government Disability Services Providers will expire. It is time to start campaigning for your next Enterprise Bargaining Agreement!

Enterprise Bargaining is the process for you to campaign for improvements to your wages, working conditions and professional issues.

Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) members have a long history of success in these campaigns with major wins that have protected and improved working conditions in the past.

What do you want in your Agreement?
All non-government Disability members should now have received a survey and replied paid envelope. Please fill out the Survey and return it in the reply paid envelope as soon as possible. If you have not yet received one, please contact the HACSU Office as soon as possible on 1300 651 931.

In addition to the survey, officials will be visiting as many workplaces as possible as well has holding a series of regional meetings that Disability Support Professionals can attend. If you would like a meeting in your region please either call HACSU on 1300 651 931 or email us at hacsu@hacsu.asn.au.

All union members should attend. You are also encourage to bring non-members who will be able to sign up at the meeting.

We’re in this together
It almost goes without saying that the current Global Financial Crisis is going to mean this bargaining round will be extremely difficult. Governments are tightening their belts which means real pressure on funding for Services.

However, with over 60 Non-government Disability Service Providers participating in this bargaining round, all ultimately funded by the Department of Human Services, we can strengthen our bargaining position if we work together.

One sure way to make us stronger is with more HACSU members. More HACSU members, means more bargaining strength and therefore better outcomes. So make sure you talk to your colleagues, not only about what you would like to see in the new agreement but why you’re a union member and why they should be one as well.

You can sign-up online here.

We’re on the lookout for HACSU members that would like to be more involved in this campaign. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, please contact the Union office on 1300 651 931 or by email on hacsu@hacsu.asn.au.

We’ll keep you up dated as the campaign progresses.
