Press Release: Disability Workers to March in Support of Equal Pay

Health and Community Services Union members working in the non-government disability sector, along with a range of other unions, will march in support of Equal Pay at State Library tomorrow. The rally is in response to the Federal Government’s submission to the Equal Pay Case being heard by Fair Work Australia, which stipulates that any pay increases for disability workers should be assessed against the budget.

"The Federal Government’s submission is a concerning development. It relegates workers’ rights to equal pay for work of equal value to second place against budget implications," said HACSU State Secretary Lloyd Williams.

2011 Mental Health EBA claim

The 2011 Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) claim has now been finalised through the endorsement at a statewide delegates’ and members’ meeting, and has been submitted to each of the health services and the State Government. The claim has been posted to all members and workplaces and is available for download (PDF, 152kb).

 
Clinical vs non-clinical documentation

HACSU has received queries regarding non-clinical work and paperwork bans.
HACSU asserts that members and delegates have the capacity to make decisions about whether or not particular documentation or process is required for the clinical care of a client. If they determine that particular paperwork or a process does not impact detrimentally on client care/treatment, then HACSU supports that decision.
If management want that process or paperwork completed, they will have to do it themselves.
