Notice of Representation: Do Nothing

DHS Disability Members are finally receiving a ‘Notice of Representation’ today from the Department of Human Services.

HACSU wrote to members in early November explaining that you do not need to do anything with this notice. It is a technical requirement of the new act in order to register our 2008 EBA. Unfortunately some confusion has arisen due to a delay in the Department sending out the notice.

When an agreement was reached in 2008 a Heads of Agreement was written and signed which sets out the wages and conditions that you are employed under. These benefits are already flowing to members including pay rises.

Benefits that members are already enjoying from this Heads of Agreement include:

  • An initial payrise in 2008 of between 5.3% and 10.1%, plus an additional 3.25% in 2009, 2010 and 2011
  • Qualifications Allowance
  • Improved Educational and Professional Development
  • An increase in various allowances such as clothing allowance
  • Improved discipline process and a review of classification structures.

As an agreement has already been reached, there is no need for you to have representation from HACSU again so you do not need to do anything with this notice.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the union office on 1300 651 931 or email hacsu@hacsu.asn.au.
