The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) has released a consultation paper that puts forward five draft registration standards that will come into effect as of 1 July 2010. The NMBA consultation paper also includes the Board’s proposal for endorsement. Their proposal does NOT include endorsement for mental health nurses. Given the importance of this issue to Mental Health Nurses, the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses is polling members to determine what position it should take on this issue. HACSU is currently developing our policy position on the paper and will be writing to the NMBA in response to their consultation paper and ensuring that the views of HACSU members are represented.
