| Preceptorship in Psychiatric Nursing 2010 Workshop |

This subject is offered in collaboration with clinical agencies to provide psychiatric/mental health nurses and other health professionals, with the skills and knowledge to provide student supervision in the workplace. The content will include models of supervision; theoretical perspectives of teaching and learning, the nature of the preceptor-preceptee relationship; curriculum issues in psychiatric nursing education, including content and competency-based education; learning outcomes and assessment; and the process of organisational change. ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, it is expected that the participant will be able to:Identify the conceptual underpinnings of the learning organisation Outline the various models of teaching and learning relevant to preceptorship Apply skills in student support and implement a student teaching and support program in the workplace Identify and develop the knowledge and skills of nurses in the clinical setting through a teaching/learning practice environment with the aim of improving patient outcomes.
